I am Iyalode Osunyomi Bolaji, head of the Women’s Society in Oyotunji African Village, and I want to share our deep gratitude for the love and support we have received since 1975. From the very beginning, our purpose has been clear—to honor our traditions, uplift women, and preserve the Yoruba way of life.
The Egbe Moremi Women Society, founded in 1976, was created to guide women through the important stages of life and to help them embrace their role in the community with confidence and strength. Through our programs, we prepare women for womanhood while building skills in areas such as:
Business & Industry – learning trade, entrepreneurship, and marketing.
Marriage & Motherhood – gaining cultural wisdom, mentorship, and tools to build strong families.
Spirituality & Femininity – embracing the sacred aspects of womanhood, including hygiene, balance, and self-respect.
We are more than just a society—we are a community of learning and living. Within our circle, women come together to experience and practice the richness of Yoruba culture, including:
Understanding family and compound life.
Learning about polygamous family structures.
Embracing the roles of girls and women in community life.
Practicing traditional child-rearing rooted in cultural values.
Cooking in groups, preparing festivals, and following village protocols.
For nearly fifty years, Egbe Moremi has been a pillar of strength, wisdom, and tradition. We continue to guide women, protect our heritage, and pass on the knowledge that ensures future generations grow into strong women, devoted mothers, and proud keepers of Yoruba culture.
Our mission is to uplift women, children, and families by addressing their most essential needs and creating opportunities for lasting growth. We are committed to providing safe housing, access to education, and skills training that open doors to brighter futures. Through fundraising, charity, and community-driven programs, we ensure that support reaches those who need it most.
We believe in empowering every generation—elders, mothers, teenage girls, young adults, and youth—by offering guidance, resources, and rites of passage that prepare them for life’s journey. At the heart of our mission is the belief that when women and children are supported, entire communities become stronger, more resilient, and full of hope.
